How it all began...

Michal's hands typing on laptop
2007
Michal gets bitten by the writing bug

A (mostly) innocent speech-language pathologist-in-training named Michal gets bitten by the copy caterpillar: she lands an internship at a publishing company (for a grand ol’ $11/hour) writing all their copy without knowing it’s called copy.

2008-2016
Michal juggles 3 peanut-paying jobs

Michal works full days (and nights) switching between speech therapist, journalist, and agency copywriter. She has Scatterbrain Syndrome. 😵

2017
Michal quits her 3 jobs and dives into freelance writing
  • 1 goal: overdeliver like crazy.
  • Result: a reputation for perfection.
2018
Mazal tov! It’s a course 🎉

Michal launches CopyTribe 1.0 and trains writers in the art of marketing, copywriting, and freelancing.

Because, turns out, you can’t clone yourself. Shucks. Next best option is to hire Very Awesome People — like Shira Isenberg, who served as our fab senior copywriter for 6 years.

2019
Perfectionist copywriter brand is solidified through drool-worthy website

Michal’s pink and black and gray website catapults her business — and garners continuous accolades (even years later).

Michal completes her 25th VIP Day

Clients love the fast delivery and laser-focus of Michal’s new One-Day Intensive package (7 hours of her brainpower), and it’s consistently booked out. Also, by now our team has grown to 5 Awesome People around the world.

2024
We launch our new site
(the one you’re reading right now) 🥳

After 5 years of our agency evolving and building a reputation, we revamped our website to highlight our specialty in websites, show off meaty case studies, and talk straight to B2B tech founders (you?) —  plus copywriters who like zero-fluff stuff.

Meet the team

Copynerds of the world, unite!

Located in 4 different time zones, our team comes together in Slack to craft killer copy, create killer products, and wage killer meme battles (without killing each other).

FUN FACT: Nearly all team members were handpicked by Michal from CopyTribe cohorts. 🤩
Also, we let each pick their own GIF. Draw your own conclusions.

Fluff.

Most common Slack post:

“Don’t kill me, but I’m rethinking this. Would it be more strategic to…”

Fun fact:

Is a rabid netball enthusiast.

After working as an agency copywriter for 10+ years, Michal went out on her own and built a boutique agency known for precise, punchy B2B web copy. She also trained 600+ freelancers over 7 program cohorts, while creating a collection of digital products for copywriters & freelancers. Michal is an alumna of multiple world-class copywriting and coaching programs, and regularly speaks (fluff-free!) for audiences around the world.

Marketing pet peeve:

Unanswered emails.

Most common Slack post:

“What's XYZ up to? We should probably get on with it.”

Fun fact:

Has flown through 30+ airports on 5 continents. ✈️

After earning a BA in Professional Writing and landing a job in the educational curricula space, Gavriella discovered copywriting (through CopyTribe, of course). Within a few months, she was recruited to be Michal’s right-hand (wo)man. She supports us with her impeccable project management, perfect client emails, and inimitable wit. Also, she always thinks it’s Wednesday. 🤷‍♀️

Marketing pet peeve:

When people say they have the secret to XYZ! And then proceed to unveil something extremely well-known.

Most common Slack post:

“Here’s a video I recorded showing you how to do this cool hack…”

Fun fact:

Worked from home with a toddler for 19 months and got more done than 3 people in the same time. We don’t ask questions. 😂

After 6 years in the workforce, Malky realized that 9-5 clerical office work was causing her brain cells to atrophy. She was like a racehorse stuck in a turtle's cage. So she enrolled in CopyTribe. There, Michal discovered her and roped her into keeping CopyTribe & Profitable Freelancer (okay, pretty much everything) running smooth as butter — with her patience, warmth, and Tech Evil Genius powers. Now she has plenty of room to innovate and automate and RUN with her creative solutions. We can always count on Malky to swoop in and save the day with another brilliant hack. One thing we haven’t figured out yet: Malky is mysteriously able to respond to Slack messages in her sleep. 😱

Shiffy dove headfirst into the wacky world of marketing by taking CopyTribe 3.0 — which led to her current role: supporting Michal’s content creation & agency copywriting with an uncanny ability to nail different brand voices, including Michal’s. In her spare time, she tries to reach Laundry Basket Zero and eats too much halva.

After graduating with a BA in History, Mallea worked as a college instructor. Her search for something more flexible (read: not on-site!) led her to pursue a career in Virtual Assistance. She opted for full-time VA work after joining our team — and boy, are we grateful! Mallea supports us with diligent, detailed work. We know we can depend on her to tackle any task with a smile.

Our values

What we believe — and how it shapes our day-to-day

Handshake icon
Connection
Collaboration should be fun

Humor is a must. Both sides should look forward to meetings! We take our work seriously, but not ourselves, and seek clients who do the same. We invest in and nurture our relationships — with clients, program members, and each other — because without strong relationships, nothing is worthwhile.

Excellence
Good enough is not good enough

We reject mediocrity because with the pursuit of perfection comes excellence. By the time a deliverable is presented, it’s been revised and honed at least 7 times. We have no tolerance for sloppiness. We care about the smallest details — commas, spacing, naming conventions — because precision is a sign of respect.

Pencil and pen icon
Initiative
Care enough to say it

Great brands are built by people who act — not react. We are not order-takers; we don’t wait to be told.  We notice when something can be improved — and make strategic suggestions. We continually look for ways to grow, improve, do better.

Number 1 medal icon
Integrity
Rule #1: Actually care

We're here to get the best possible results for you, for ourselves, and for the world. We readily admit that we don’t know everything, and that others have good ideas and insights, sometimes better than ours. We constantly self-assess, and solicit feedback from others. If we’re not the best people for the job, we’ll tell you.

100% icon
Ownership
Big people take responsibility

We hire, admire, and work with broad-shouldered people who say “I’m on this!” — then hold themselves accountable. Deadlines are not suggestions. And frequent, clear communication throughout every project is a given.

We’re word people.
But actions > words

our take

Pick a bone? Pick our brains.

(or our brain bones)
“Email marketing is dead”

Not quite. Some emails you don't open, but some emails you DO — and read and click too. Haphazard email marketing is dead. Targeted, smart email campaigns are alive and kicking!

Nobody reads eye-numbing twaddle designed to delight AI robots. LOTS of people will read a 3,000 word blog if it's compelling, relevant, and entertaining. And riddled with useful images. And bullet points. And white space. We've got loads of tricks up our sleeves to boost readability.

“Nobody reads anymore”
“The market is too crowded”

If you're genuinely good at what you do, there's always a way to differentiate. Nobody is doing exactly what you do, in the same exact way. You need to dig deep to figure it out. (Don't worry, we'll help!)

Nope. For highly aware readers, it's features then benefits. So let's all agree on benefits + features.

“Benefits over features, always”
